Mold Room Technician

Vermillion Incorporated is searching for our next Mold Room Technician to fill a 1st shift opening in our manufacturing facility.

About the Role

The Mold Operator is responsible for producing high-quality potted and molded wire harness bundles using specialized tools, materials, and equipment. This hands-on role involves preparing cables and molds, measuring and mixing compounds, operating molding equipment—including convection ovens and transfer press machines—and ensuring all work meets Vermillion’s strict quality and safety standards. The Mold Operator also performs cable identification using a transfer pad machine and maintains a clean, organized work area. Success in this role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions while working independently in a fast-paced production environment.

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE

The primary function of this position is to process potted and molded wire harness bundles through repetitive tasks using mold tools and potting/mold material while simultaneously ensuring all work is done to specification. In addition to potting and molding, transfer press cable identification on harnesses as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all duties in accordance with Vermillion Quality Management System and Safety standards
  • Prepare cable jackets and mold tools in accordance with Vermillion Process Standards or verbal instructions
  • Measure and mix compounds per manufacturer’s instructions
  • Fill components with potting material
  • Operate convection oven to assemble molds for injection molding
  • Operate transfer press machine, moving cable assemblies and molds in and out of the press.
  • Set up and mark components with transfer pad machine.
  • Cleaning all utensils and work area and disposing of chemicals in correct locations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools required
  • Basic Computer usage knowledge required
  • Ability to pass a respirator physical
  • Ability to measure liquids and calculate ratios
  • Ability to use measuring tools to measure length accurately and precisely is required; certain responsibilities may require precision to within 1/32 inch
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to assemble products according to verbal or written instructions, or by following drawings/diagrams
  • This position requires the employee to have clear vision at 20 inches or less (with or without the use of personal corrective eyewear or a company-provided magnifying glass in addition to color vision in order to identify and distinguish colors
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds
  • Self-starter and motivated to work with minimal supervision
  • Good troubleshooting skills
