About the Role
As an Estimator, you will play a critical role in supporting new business opportunities by developing accurate and competitive quotes. This position is responsible for analyzing customer RFQs, technical drawings, and specifications to determine material requirements, labor hours, pricing, and delivery timelines. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, and Customers to ensure quotations are timely, precise, and aligned with production capabilities. In addition, you will track actual production costs against estimates to continuously improve quoting accuracy and support operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities include reviewing blueprints and schematics, soliciting supplier pricing and lead-time information, estimating labor based on assembly complexity, identifying required equipment, and preparing formal price and delivery quotations using ERP or specialized quoting tools. The Estimator also prepares reports, correspondence, and performs other related duties as needed.

You are a detail-oriented professional with a strong analytical mindset and experience in estimating within a manufacturing or technical environment. You are comfortable interpreting technical drawings and specifications, working with suppliers, and balancing multiple priorities under deadlines. You communicate effectively across departments and take pride in producing accurate, well-supported estimates.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Review customer Requests for Quotation (RFQs), blueprints, and technical drawings to understand schematics.
- Determine material costs by soliciting bids from suppliers and estimating labor hours based on assembly complexity
- Review drawings and specifications for new jobs to work up parts, lead-time materials, labor and prices.
- Initiate inquiries about prices and availability information from potential suppliers.
- Create formal price and delivery quotations for management and customers, often using ERP or specialized quoting software.
- Monitor actual production costs against initial estimates to identify discrepancies and improve future accuracy.
- Identify equipment needed for project.
- Prepare correspondence and reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree plus at least two years of estimating experience required; or equivalent work experience
- Manufacturing and/or aircraft (or similar technical) industry experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in MRP or ERP systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to organize, manage, and complete multiple tasks within deadlines
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- This position requires the employee to have clear vision at 20 inches or less (with or without the use of personal corrective eyewear or a company-provided magnifying glass) as well as color vision in order to identify and distinguish colors.
